Why hire a caricaturist for your event?
A caricature is, by definition, an exaggerated or distorted likeness, exposed for laughter and merriment. This art form makes perfect entertainment for parties, wedding receptions, dinners, conferences and all kinds of other events. A caricaturist is the perfect icebreaker and a great way to kick start your party or to bring potential customers to your exhibition stand.

The impact of spontaneously drawn caricatures provides great entertainment value.

Why hire Andy?
There are probably less than fifty professional, on-the-spot caricaturists working in the whole of the UK today. Andy is widely regarded as one of the very best of them. He takes roughly three to four minutes to draw his prey who is then handed the caricature and thus discovers exactly how others might see them. Hilarious for friends of the victim...until it’s their turn!

Drawn in black ink with tonal grey washes on heavy A4 white card, the caricatures are presented with an A4 envelope. Most are taken home and framed, some – mainly at office parties - get stolen and have darts thrown at them and a few end up supporting table legs. The point is to amuse with the impact of spontaneously drawn caricatures. Let loose amongst your guests, Andy will draw between 30–40 individual head-and-shoulder caricatures in a three hour performance. He can also draw couples together. Unless it’s a fairly small gathering, it’s impossible for him to draw everyone, but having said that, everyone is fair game, so the faint-hearted may prefer to hide in the toilets until Andy has moved on. He is quick, sensitive to clients' needs and adaptable to most circumstances.

Since becoming a full-time cartoonist in 1992, aside from drawing on-the-spot caricatures at well over a thousand events, he has had cartoons published in various UK and European newspapers and magazines - The Guardian, The Times, The Independent on Sunday, The Sunday Telegraph, The Scotsman, Private Eye, Punch, The Spectator, Prospect, Squib, E! Sharp and The New Statesman. He also worked on the satirical TV cartoon series 2DTV and Channel 5 and Sky news programmes.

Andy is based in Cambridge and is happy to travel all over the UK and abroad, diary permitting.

Tailoring to suit your needs
If you'd like your company logo printed on each sheet to give your customers something to remind them of your brand, then that's easily accommodated. The same applies to printing dates and headings to each sheet personalise the presentation. He prefers to use his own pens and paper to draw with, so please consult first if you want personalised paper.

Andy prefers to work on a mix-and-mingle basis. Guests often need a liitle encouragement at first to volunteer to be drawn, so it's best if he introduces himself to them. But if you really prefer, he can set up in one part of the event and have guests come to him.

What do you need to think about?
Andy can work in most situations, but certain conditions aren't really suitable. He needs enough light to see his victims - most party environments are OK, but please don't ask him to work in near darkness or under strobe or flashing lights. And you might consider if there's enough space in the room for him to move around
